There has been a temporary halt in Royal Mail sending documents overseas due to a technical error. We received this news on 11th January around 16.20.

Therefore if you have selected airmail as your outgoing option for an apostille order, please note there may be delays in it reaching you whilst Royal Mail resolve this issue.

According to their website, they are calling it an incident instead of an attack as they do not know what caused the issue.

What is a Statutory Declaration?

A statutory declaration is a written statement made by one person to confirm facts they wish to prove to another person. In the UK statutory declarations are governed by The Statutory Declarations Act 1835 and must follow a prescribed format and be witnessed correctly.

It is important to note that the e-Apostille is not replacing the physical apostille; both means of legalisation will work in tandem for UK documents being presented in other countries.

What is a Deed Poll?

Deed Polls are legal documents recording a person’s change of name. They are often called Name Change Deed Polls.

The person changing their name makes a formal statement confirming their new name and renouncing the use of their previous name. For example, Susan Smith may be formally changing her name to Susan Jones and will use the new name of Susan Jones at all times.
